What you need:

• construction paper cut into rectangles and triangles (you can use the shape templates found in the “resource” section)

• white or construction paper

• waterproof placemat or table cloth

• apron or painting clothes

• damp cloth for cleaning hands

• glue

• optional: crayons or markers

 

Preparation: 

1. Cover a table with a waterproof placemat.

2. Put out shapes and glue.

3. Place paper on placemat.

4. Have a damp cloth and cleaning supplies close by.

 

Directions:

1. “Today we are going to make some buildings.  We can use these triangles and rectangles”

2. “I dip my brush in the glue.”

3. “Watch me spread the glue on the paper.”

4. “Now I put a rectangle on the glue.”

5. Demonstrate collaging.

6. “Your turn.”

7. Optional: add paint or draw with crayons or markers.
