Learning About Primary Colors with Extension Activities

Primary Color Sort Activity

  1. Three Period Lesson- Introducing colors and objects of each color.  Start with 3 cards and increase the number as your child shows readiness. 

  2. Matching

  3. Memory -start with 3-5 pairs and add more to increase difficulty

  • Lay the cards in rows, face down.

  • Take turns, turning over any two cards.

  • If the two cards match, keep them.

  • If they don't match, turn them back over.

  • Remember what was on each card and where it was.

  • Watch and remember during the other player's turn.

  • The game is over when all the cards have been matched.

 

   4. Sort by color.  You can do a scavenger hunt and collect items around your home that match the       primary colors.
